I just want to share people’s beautiful things with the world — like this one and this one — and believe me this amazing glass tile mosaic is no exception!
When pen-pal Helen from Melbourne sent me the photo below, newly finished and on the wall, I couldn’t ask fast enough to make this post!
This peaceful, tranquil scene reminds me of the equally peaceful and tranquil (but a tad larger!) real-life koi carp and water lily pond at the nearby Nan Tien Temple about 15-20 minutes drive from the Wollongong Botanic Garden.
I’ve not seen this mosaic in real-life, but just know that the photo does not do this artwork justice. And that is nobody’s fault, on account of its size, the materials it is made from, and the light source and camera that was available. It would require a pretty decent kit and setup to capture this in its full glory.

Helen said easily over 100 different tile styles went into this, and this photo below is but a tiny sample set:

This mosaic is 1,200 mm diameter and took around of 120-150 hours to complete. Every piece of glass was hand-cut and positioned.
Savour all the close-ups below — which no doubt look multiple times better in real life!
