Plant Description:
Curio rowleyanus x ‘Angel Tears’ is a hybrid of Curio rowleyanus ‘String of Pearls’. I find this hybrid more hardy and faster-growing than ‘String of Pearls’, which is why I chose it for this repurposed kettle!
‘Angel Tears’ is slow-growing in winter, but will really put on growth as the weather warms, and will continue to cover the kettle in beautiful dense cascades of ‘Angel Tears’.
This plant will benefit from half-strength liquid fertiliser given once or twice a month during the growing summer season. Reduce this to every six to eight weeks during its dormant winter phase.
Please note that no drainage holes were drilled into the bottom of the kettle, meaning moisture is retained and should wick upwards as the top dries out. This plant doesn’t need much watering anyway as it is a succulent, but give it a light drink if the top centimetre feels dry or the ‘Tears’ start to flatten. I suggest watering it on a sink or outside though, in case water rolls off the top.
This plant does not like direct hot afternoon sun, but can otherwise handle a range of light conditions and does well as a houseplant — add a touch of fun to your kitchen where it will fit right in!
It’s worth mentioning that I keep this very specimen and the Donkey Tail in all weathers outdoors — and both are thriving, despite all this recent rain and lack of drainage!
Local pick-up is welcome — we’re in Gwynneville, near Wollongong University.
Pick-up is by mutual arrangement please, as we don’t have a shopfront.
Having said that, we are always here and more often than not can easily fit in with whichever day and time suits you best!
Feel free to suggest preferred pick-up time(s) in the comments box during checkout and we’ll reply as soon as we see the notification.
Especial Note Regarding Large Air-Pot® Orders
Depending on the order, we may suggest that large Air-Pot® orders are best sent directly to you from the warehouse.
Especial Note Regarding Jujube Trees
When posting out bare-rooted jujube trees, we routinely trim them to fit the box and keep postage costs to a minimum. These trees are typically knee-high when planted out, though some may be smaller.
This of course doesn’t apply for pick-ups, and in fact we will set aside the tallest trees specifically for this purpose. These trees can often be hip-high, and sometimes taller again.
Please note that this is not a guarantee, as heights of different cultivars can differ from year to year.
