Item Description:
ENTERING WINTER DORMANCY AND LEAVES WLL BROWN MORE AND MORE
This is a mature lemongrass plant with tillers (side shoots), and is the exact item as in the photos. The leaves are around 800 mm tall with naturally bent-over leaves, and 1100 mm tall with extended leaves.

This plant may be trimmed for shipping.

The dimensions of the bottomless pot are 90 mm square × 150 mm deep — I love these pots as the square shape and bottomless design produces beautifully straight and deep roots with no spiralling whatsoever. (I sell these brand-new if interested.)

I reuse and recycle pots whenever possible, and the pots the plants come in may show signs of this, but are otherwise in great condition.

Plant Description:
Lemongrass is a perennial clumping grass reaching close to a metre at maturity. The leaves bend over and take on a beautiful fountain-look en masse, making it a lovely ornamental grass as well as an edible one.

This is the culinary West Indian lemongrass which has a green stem as shown in photo 2. East Indian lemongrass (not as preferred for eating though still highly fragrant and ornamental) is easily recognised by the distinct purple tinge to the stems and leaves.

Growing Information:
Lemongrass is a tough and hardy plant like many grasses, but will not survive climates with heavy frosts.

This grass is a fast grower and will need regular fertilising to ensure it maintains the smell and flavour it is renowned for.

Lemongrass is a clumping grass, and will fill this pot over time. Division of the rhizomes and repotting/planting elsewhere is highly recommended once the pot gets too crowded. Alternatively the individual plants in this pot can be planted in the ground as a clump right away, or separated to plant individually.
