Please note you will get best results with canes that are 10-12 mm diameter at both ends, as these jam tightly into the holes and do not budge.
Thinner canes, or those that taper to a smaller diaameter, will need additional help with glue, putty, or padding to stay in place.

With that caveat, these are otherwise great for assembling really simple lightweight structures over which to drape netting — it took all of a handful of minutes to make the structure in the second photo, and I was able to move it about without any fear of it collapsing.

To use — and photos coming once I actually redo my beds and get this done — I’d drive the bottom canes deep into the soft dirt of a vegie bed for extra support, and extend the structure vertically with another four canes and connectors. The sides would comprise two vertically-joined canes in other words, but wouldn’t be this high above the surface.

One other thing worth noting is that only two opposite holes are connected by a tunnel. The other four end. This is clearer in the photos. The tunnel can be useful in allowing a slightly longer cane to extrude so as to make a side the same length as the others. Again, see one of the photos to visualise this.

Another use could be to push a twice-length cane fully through to make a double-length structure, such that the connector is halfway along the cane. A cane in the ground-facing hole of that connector then makes an additional support leg. (i.e. a six-legged structure.)
